The HERO framework is a model used in the Maker to Mobilizer section of the MOAT Stacking book and is designed to help founders and CEO's identify how to delegate decisions. The four different types of decisions are; Type 1: High Stake/Irreversible Decisions: It makes sense for CEOs to spend their decision-making time on things like mergers and acquisitions, strategic pivots, and leadership hires. Type 2: EcoSystem: Decisions about partners or suppliers that require cross-departmental or business-unit collaboration fall in this category. These are best entrusted to senior unit leadership and should not be determined by the CEO. Type 3: Reversible/Daily Decisions: These types of decisions should be delegated to drive speed and empower execution. Type 4: Opinions: Recognizing that many decisions are just creative opinions allows founders to entrust these decisions to their leaders. The irony is that though these sit at the bottom of the decision-value hierarchy, founders often enjoy offering their creative opinions, making it challenging for them to extricate themselves from this. This idea was first featured in the book MOAT Stacking by Dave Sattler.
